Are weights of paper consistent?

We try to ensure that all weights of paper we use are consistent across the board however there are always inconsistencies across all manufactured products.

We never print on stock that is lower than what you ordered but occassionally the stock of paper will change slightly or your menus will be printed on a heavier stock. We do try to keep these changes to a minimum and will attempt to discuss the change with you before your menus are printed.

Can you put lots of images all over the menu?

Yes you can, however we strongly advise against it. Small images all over the menus will make it look busy and cheapen its appearance. Images are best used big to make a statement.

You only get one free image included with the design. If you do want to add more they are charged at £5 each if CTM are to source them for you.

You can supply your own images as long as they are purchased or copywrite free. If they are copywrited images we cannot apply them to your menu unless you purchase it with a licence to allow you to use it. CTM will not use any illegal images on any menus produced by us. Any images supplied are your responsibility to ensure they are legal to use. CTM cannot take responsibility for images supplied by customers for use on takeaway menus.

What is a takeaway ordering portal website?

A takeaway ordering portal is a third party website that hosts your takeaway menu to receive orders for your food on your behalf. They charge a setup fee to install a small printer with a phone sim card inside that receives the order in you takeaway. You will pay a commision on all orders made through their website.

What GSM do you recommend for printing menus?

At Cheap Takeaway Menus we recommend that you use at least 130 GSM as a minimum. This gives the finished menu enough strength to last as long as the prices remain correct. You want your menu strong enough to be used by your customers for as long as possible. You can use a higher GSM if your budget will allow you to. A thicker paper of 170 GSM or 200 GSM will help your menu feel different from your competitors who use a thinner GSM. Any material thicker than 170 GSM and the folds will require creasing, before folding, to stop it from cracking as it is folded. This dramatically increases the costs and is why Cheap Takeaway Menus only offer a maximum of 170 GSM, which does not requiring creasing, in order to keep your costs as low as possible.

What is the difference between a landscape and a portrait takeaway menu?

A landscape takeaway menu is one that when the menu is opened fully, with the text readable, the width is greater than the menu height. If the menu height is greater than the menu width then it is a portrait menu.

In general nearly all printed takeaway menus use a landcape paper orientation. A portrait orientation is more commonly used on Takeaway Promotional Flyers used for specific events, specials or competitions.
