Folding Options

In printing there are so many different choices to make, one of the least understood is what all the different folding options are.

We hope to explain the differences between some of the more popular ones. Check out the pictures and descriptions below to see which you think would be appropriate for you.

We can handle all standard folds such as roll fold, gate fold and Z fold.
If you need a little bit different folding option we can handle that too, simply let us know what your needs are.

Roll Fold

Roll Fold

A piece of paper folded that has two parallel folds that fold in on each other. It may fold in from the left or right.

3 Roll Fold

3 Roll Fold

A piece of paper folded that has three parallel folds that fold in on each other. It may fold in from the left or right.

Z Fold

Z Fold

Typically simple zig-zag folds with 6-panels and two parallel folds that go in opposite directions.

3 Z Fold

Zig-zag folds with 8 panels and 3 parallel folds that go in opposite directions.

Half Fold

The half fold is a page folded once in the middle.

Tabbed Fold

Tabbed Fold

The tabbed fold is a page folded once slightly off-centered so when the page is folded it shows the front cover and a bit the third panel (as a tab).

Gate Fold

Gate Fold

There are two parallel folds. The left and right edges of the paper fold and meet in the middle, without overlapping.
